Trapani Fish Market

The first attraction of Trapani, where Mario and Antonella brought us after going to the local supermarket, was the fish market. Sicily is famous for its sweets, garlic and seafood. Everyone has already heard the legendary traditional fishing for red tuna, which takes place just in the western part of the island, and more precisely near the nearby island of Favignana in early summer. But in November, vacation in Sicily has its own characteristics. Due to the complete lack of tourists, we had the opportunity to enjoy the island in all its glory, as well as get to know the local population closer. And so we found ourselves in a real market, where local fishermen themselves sell their catch and do not hide their interest in the rare Russian-speaking tourist at that time.

I have long dreamed of going to such a place. The fishermen always seemed to me rather harsh guys, but these myths were dispelled at the very first moment when such a cute guy like my friend Seryozha Kondobarova himself suggested that I take a picture with a catch.

Prices for freshly caught fish are acceptable, in the range of 8-12 euros.

Mario's friend tells us about his catch.

That's what real shrimp look like. Next time we’ll buy a couple kilo home. Even I can cook shrimp.

There are also more exotic fish at 20 euros / kilo. Cipolle (onion fish?) Called.

And is it weak for you to just take a living octopus?

Come, fly in - buy live moray eels for 5 euros!

The market itself is quite small, but there are a lot of different species of marine inhabitants, I have never even heard some names.

But I am afraid to cook such things. But surely they are very tasty.

We arrived at the market around 11 o’clock in the afternoon, and trade was already drawing to a close. Still, buying fresh fish, and even more so fishing, is not for those who like to sleep.

Fishermen's ships are moored near the market.

In the photo below, the chief editor of the site, Yana Yakutsevich, enjoys the Sicilian November sun.

Having noted in such an authentic place, we went to the westernmost point of Sicily, but we will tell you about this a little later.

If you rent apartments with a kitchen and know how to cook seafood, or you are just interested in the life of the indigenous Sicilians, the fish market in Trapani is a place worth visiting.

When is the best time to go to Cologne?

In summer, the whole life of the city takes place on the streets. Cologne residents and tourists drink coffee and dine at tables set under huge umbrellas in the streets and squares, not only in sunny weather, but also in the rain. And this is not surprising, because summer temperatures often go off scale at 30 ° C. Nevertheless, the normal summer temperature in Cologne is more comfortable.

Bode Museum

The Bode Museum is visited less frequently than other museums. And this is good. Not crowded here. You are practically alone with antiquity, art and architecture. There are no "hit" exhibits, but there is an excellent collection of medieval "naive" and wooden German Gothic. A beautiful collection of bronze figurines - plastic, “verbose" and bewitching.
