Chocolate Museum

In 1993, the Chocolate Museum was opened in the former customs building, where people of all ages come to find out the story of their favorite treats and, for research purposes, try the sweets that are prepared right here.

Chocolate Museum

The most popular Cologne Chocolate Museum (Schokoladenmuseum) was opened in the Rheinauhafen harbor on the island in 1993 next to the Imhoff-Stollwerk chocolate factory. The museum building is also interesting, it resembles a ship.

Once on a tour of the Chocolate Museum, you will find yourself in a greenhouse with tropical plants used in the manufacture of chocolate. Then they will show you a miniature chocolate factory, where the whole process of chocolate production will be visible from behind the glass. A floor above is a confectionery workshop, where they make truffles and chocolate figures. You can buy freshly made sweets in a shop on the ground floor. All visitors to the museum are given a chocolate bar made here.

In addition to the chocolate factory, the museum has an exposition telling the history of chocolate making. The 3 m high chocolate fountain is the museum’s most impressive exhibit. If you stock up on a special waffle, you can taste chocolate directly from the fountain.

At the Chocolate Museum, time flies by. The rooftop café here offers lunch and coffee, and you can enjoy stunning views of the Rhine.

A Brief History of Ancient Rome

According to one version of the history of the founding of Rome, the following happened. After the death of ancient Troy, few defenders of the city managed to escape. The very Aeneas, the “engine couple,” headed them. The fugitives roamed the sea for a long time on their ships. And after a long journey, they finally managed to land on the beach.
