Russell Crowe asks Pope Francis to watch a movie

Russell Crowe is trying in every way to persuade Pope Francis to watch his new film, Noah. The "campaign" of the Australian actor has been going on for almost a week, and he uses Twitter for his own purposes.

Russell Crowe: "Dear Dadplease watch my movie about Noah "

The first humble request was sent on February 22. Turning to the Pontiff on Twitter, Russell Crowe wrote:

"Dear Holy Father, would you be so kind as to watch Darren Aronofsky’s film Noah? I’m sure he will impress you."

On the same day, again on Twitter, Crow posted a photo on the square near St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican, on which a gigantic movie poster stands out. Actually this is Via della Conciliazione, but nonetheless. Two days have passed, but from the side of @Pontifex there is silence.

On February 24, Crowe resumed the attack, in a more decisive manner (he sent messages to two of the Pope’s accounts at once, for sure: @Pontifex and @Pontifex_it): “Dear Holy Father, can we release Noah on the screens? It’s a strong picture, exciting and with deep meaning. " But even this time the Vatican did not answer. But Crow readers on Twitter showed great interest in the calls.

The actor was not taken aback and asked his fans to try to "put pressure" on the Pope.

Here's what he wrote in his next tweet on February 24th: “Friends, knowing about Pope Francis’s attention to the environment, I’m trying to persuade him to watch Noah. Will you help me? In response, one of the readers (Miss Delgado) commented on the message as follows: "You made a film about environmental issues, not about religion. Agree." But Russell did not agree with her and politely replied: "Do you think that you can make a religious film without paying attention to nature? Our Creator gave us a garden ..."

Another day of unsuccessful expectation passed, the actor did not lose hope and continued to knock with his request to the Pope, but his tone changed significantly. February 25, he wrote: "Dear Holy Father, I am sorry that I provoked such a commotion on your page. However, I am still sure that Noah will conquer you.". And again silence. As a result, another tweet, already almost a plea, from the same February 25th: “Dear Holy Father, it would be a great pleasure for me to send you Darren Aronofsky’s film“ Noah ”for you to watch it. That would happen, Inshallah!" .

It should be said that this is not the first time that the Pope is drawn into the events of the world of cinema: a few weeks ago, the Pontiff made a similar request to Stephen Frears with his “Filomena” (albeit without mass publicity).

At that time, the representative of the Holy See, Father Lombardi made a statement: "The Holy Father does not watch films in person and will not do this. You should not use the Pope for marketing purposes."

Such an answer was to discourage anyone who wanted to take such steps. Apparently everyone except Russell Crowe.
