If you are planning to conquer Italy by train and are considering moving frequently, then this post can be very useful. After all, than paying for each ticket from point A to point B, it is much more economical to purchase a ticket and forget about problems with tickets for the duration of its validity. That is why today we will talk about the InterRail Italy Pass - a railway pass, which can become simply indispensable when planning a trip to the Apennines.

BlogoItaliano already touched on the topic railways in Italy and Omio service, where you can buy train tickets for traveling between the largest cities on the Apennines. Now we will consider another option - travelInterRail Italy Pass

InterRail Italy Pass

This type of ticket is valid only in Italy. Its advantage is a certain degree of flexibility that it provides to its owner. So, you can purchase InterRail Italy Pass, which will allow you to use trains of 3, 4, 6 or 8 of any days within one month in unlimited quantities.

Accordingly, the price of the option will fluctuate. So, for example, in 2018 railway pass in Italy for 3 days it cost 121 euros, and for 8 days - 243 euros.

If your age is up to 27 years, then you are entitled to receive a discount, and the same pass for 3 days will cost cheaper - 92 euros. More “gentle” tariffs are also provided for children aged 4 to 11 years.

Separately, it is worth noting that the prices quoted apply to travel in the II class. But for those who are not ready for compromise, you can always pay a little more expensive and your first class ticket.

In addition to being used on trains, the railway pass also provides its owner with a number of additional discounts. A complete list of additional benefits is available here.

InterRail Italy Pass - An option that applies to residents of Europe traveling to other countries of the continent. That is, if you are a resident and citizen of Russia, Ukraine or Belarus, you can use this option.

Before buying a pass, it is better for residents of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and other post-Soviet countries to separately check whether it applies to you. It is also important that the railway pass - InterRail Italy Pass cannot be used if you are an Italian passport holder or permanently residing in Italy.

In addition, before boarding the train, you may need to reserve a seat and pay extra fi. Such fi in Europe are quite common, and their size depends on the country in which you move. Directly for Italy, the list of reservation surcharges is as follows:

Trains Le Frecce / Frecciarossa / Frecciargento / Frecciabianca (routes in Italy, formerly called Eurostar Italia)
Reservation price: 2nd class: € 10 / 1st class: € 15

InterCity trains; InterCityNotte, Expresso (only seats)
Reservation required for night trains: 2nd class: € 3 / 1st class: € 3

And finally, delivery of a ticket purchased on-line, of course, takes some time and is not free. Therefore, if you are going to Italy and aim at using a pass, then make sure that you have enough time to deliver it (3-4 weeks).

The cost of delivery of a ticket to Russia and Ukraine is from 11 to 30 euros, depending on the tariff and urgency, which is only an additional argument in favor of early booking.

Have a nice trip
